Barbara Pell and Mary Piper’s hopes of progressing in the Daily Mail Foursomes came to an end following a 19th-hole decider.

The Kirton Holme Golf Club pair missed out when they hosted a duo from Thorney Lakes.

Round three of the Mail on Sunday Classic 2013 was a home match against Boston West, Jackie Ward, Tricia Sharpe, Kellie Hadland, Sarah Cantwell and Marlene Morris losing out 4-1 to their guests.

The first friendly match was played away at Sutton Bridge, with Kirton Holme Ladies winning 3-1.

Also in the club’s ladies section, the Winter Wanderers had a poor start with the weather causing cancellations.

However, the ladies did manage two competitions.

Eight ladies played at The Elms par three course, with Kellie Hadland the winner.

The next round was played at Boston West, with 11 ladies taking part.

The winner was Tricia Sharpe.
