Penmaen beat title rivals in convincing fashion

Graham Walters lead the way as Graves Park D held on for a creditable 5-5 draw against Lodgers E in Division One of the Boston and District Table Tennis League.

He won his three in style while Mick Dodes and the doubles earnred a draw as Ian Stones (two), Colin Bell (two) and David Kime replied for Lodgers.

Leaders Penmaen A beat second-placed Lodgers G 9-1 to open up an almost unassailable gap.

Brett Heppenstall and Brian Hill were a class above, while Derek Wood dropped one against Kelvin Clements.

Penmaen B are now bottom after losing 9-1 to Wrangle A.

Andy Birks gained his side’s point against Sam Cooper, but Neil Snaith and Scott Sykes won their matches.

Paul Hartnett dropped just one end as Stickney beat Graves Park A 7-3.

Gavin Herberts (two) and and Vince Lozynsky added points while Rob Smith (two) and Phil Brooks replied.

Lodgers B and Graves Park D drew 5-5 as Tim Day (three), Trev Blackbourn and Vic Clements forced a stalemate. Opponents Paul Matschull and Graham Walters won two each and the doubles.

Graves Park A drew 5-5 with two-man Lodgers E.

Graham Lacey and Colin Bell beat both Phil Brooks and Nick Langley but couldn’t get the better of Rob Smith.
