Penmaen A underlined what a formidable team they are when they swept aside the opposition from fourth-placed Graves Park C in Division One of the Boston and District Table Tennis League.

All but one of the singles was over in straight sets.

Martin Walters was the only Park player to draw blood, taking the second set in his game against Brett Heppenstall.

Graham Walters ran Derek Wood close in the second set of their game, losing at deuce, but Jimmy Brewster, in his first appearance of the season, had no such worries in his three games.

When Graham and James Quinton won the second end of the doubles against Brett and Derek 11-3, they might have thought that their luck had changed – but normal service was resumed in the next two, giving Penmaen yet another 10-0 victory.

Graves Park B were very grateful to their A team when they were forced, once again, to play with only two players, gifting the B team (their only) three points.

Rob Smith and Phil Brooks were determined not to concede any further points, taking all their singles in straight sets, despite the best efforts of Mike Freeston, who endured two deuce defeats against Rob, and another against Phil.

Rob and Phil had a close doubles game against Mike and Alan Reetham, but there was to be no respite for the B team, beaten once again in three sets.
