Bad weather caused a day’s delay in the 200-mile weekend pigeon race from Berwick on Tweed.
But when the birds were liberated on Sunday, they still had to contend with a strong headwind and heavy showers for some of the way.
The wind led to fast times for some - and disappointment for others.
The fastest bird into town was to the loft of Terry Appleby and Daughter, recording a speed of just short of 60 miles an hour for a fine victory in Boston Central RPC.
Most local fanciers - although not Terry - were also competing in the North Road Championship Club from the same racepoint and the fastest Boston entry in this organisation was to the loft of Mr and Mrs Brian
Garnham, winners of Boston and District FC, a just reward for all the hard work they put into the sport.
Overall winners of the NRCC event, for the second successive year, were the Huttoft partnership of Barker, Kingswood and Hannah.
