Ruth Simpson has won the Cheer Cup at Boston Golf Club.

The ladies’ section’s medal competition saw Ruth top the leaderboard with a score of 82- 09=73.

Second was Maureen Marshall on 97-17=80 while Ann Hodgson was third with 101-20=81.

Boston Golf Club’s Ladies’ Open Am-Am saw 27 teams of four from around the region take part.

The winning team of Birdie Dawson and Elaine Houlton of Kenwick Park GC, along with Annie Oliver and Cindy Ireland of Woodhall Spa GC scored 76 points.

In second place were Boston GC’s Yvonne Wright, Chris Sherriff and Barbara Unwin, with Boston West’s Val Aspland, a point behind.

The Belton Woods quartet of Jackie Wilson, Fiona Illingworth, Lisa Lieu, and Kylie Bullimore were third with 74 points.

The Boston GC team of Jean Markham, Jane Marriott, Pam King and Pam Bett finished fourth (73).

The best away team not in prizes was Blankney’s team of Janet Spencer Knott, Sheena Bennett, Elizabeth Mackay and Jane Howard.

Only three twos were scored, those going to Ann Freeman, Chris Sherriff and Barbara Unwin.

Nearest pins were awarded to Chris Gill (Kirton Holme) on the second hole, Pam Hyde (Boston) onthe fifth and Jean Markham (Boston) on the 14th.

Nearest in two on the 18th was Jackie Wilson (Belton Woods) and the Longest Drive silver on the ninth hole went to Birdie Dawson.

Nearest line for bronze went to Gill Glenister (Rutland County).
