Thomas Pogson has been crowned the ABA East Midlands youth boxing champion.
The 17-year-old won the title for the second year running on Friday, after earning a split decision victory in Mansfield.
The Boston Boxing Academy competitor was fighting in the 75-81kg category of the English national championships.
Pogson, nicknamed The Gun, also claimed the Lincolnshire title via his victory at the expense of opponent Jack Bulbridge.
He will now face opposition from Merseyside and Cheshire in the pre quarter-finals of the national competition.
Although a venue in the north west is yet to be announced, Pogson will be fighting on February 2.
Also competing in Mansfield was Pogson’s Boston Boxing Academy clubmate Justas Pundzuis.
Despite giving a good account of himself in one of the most skilful contests of the night, Pundzius narrowly lost his contest following a split decision.
Pundzius was fighting Stan Stannard.
