TWO new Filippi racing boats have been named at Boston Rowing Club.

The two boats (a quad and a four) were named John Lovely and Sue and Alex after two of the club’s longest-serving members.

John Loveley is the clubs longest-serving member and a former president, who joined BRC on his return from active service in the Second World War. He has rowed for and supported the club ever since.

Sue and Alex Ganley started volunteering to help BRC when Kitwood Boys had a thriving rowing section and Alex was a teacher there 40 years ago.

Despite the school amalgamating to become Haven High, they have continued to be staunch supporters and volunteers ever since. They are now joint presidents.
