Rowing hopes ended by wind

The Great Britain Rowing trials, set to take place on the Witham on Sunday, fell foul of the weather.

Boston Rowing Club hosts the event twice a year, with Olympic stars and future hopefuls all attempting to impress selectors.

But the dangers of rowing in high winds saw organisers act early and call off Sunday’s event.

However, indoor testing did take place in machines at the Princess Royal Sports Arena on Saturday.

London 2012 medallists Kat Copeland and Alan Campbell were among those expected to row on Sunday.
