Both Boston Grammar School and Haven High Academy’s teams finished as runners-up in the first round of the English Schools Athletic Association Track and Field Cup.

After success on the Tommy Clay Track, both teams have a good chance of progressing to one of next month’s three North Midlands Regional finals.

Boston Grammar’s junior boys - Alexander Hackett, Aaron Bradshaw, Blake Garwell, Harry Lynch, Ben Lawrence - accumulated a total of 287 points to claim joint-second with Spalding Grammar School, finishing behind winners Bourne Grammar School (292 points).

The highest individual event points scorer for the BGS team was Alexander Hackett, with 23 points.

Haven High scored 174 points, with Giles Academy on 167 and Middlecott on 126 points.

In the intermediate boys, Haven achieved 354 points, 51 behind Bourne Grammar School.

Iuri Cardoso contributed 40 points, with back up from Tiago Torres, Jakub Bilinski, Cameron Marshall and Liam Adams.

Middlecott School accrued 291 points, with BGS on 227 and Giles on 226.
