Shoddys earn an epic knockout victory

THE Team Knock-Out began with a epic battle between BSC 5 and Shodfriars 3... Shoddys winning by 72 points.

Danny Roberts claimed a 15-point lead for BSC after a one-and-a-half-hour battle with John Vines in the first match, before Gavin Skinner turned things around with a 69-point win against Mike Deal.

Carl Wand couldn’t contain Richard Crunkcorn and Colin Woodcock extended the lead at the expense of Mark Ferguson.

BSC 2 demolished David Cuttings’ BSC 16 with Daniel Hurling, Dan Himsworth, Lee Ford and Grant Marshall seeing off the challenge of Stan Matthews, Cutting, Roy Skinner and Brett Skinner.

Kirton 1 captain Ian Parnell began the night with a 74-point lead after beating Kev Hirst.

But BSC 17 progressed as Adam Gurton beat W. Burton, Chris Hirst beat John Burton and Dave France beat K. Lymer.

BSC 10 took on BSC 4, the latter winning by 41 points.

Paul Smith beat Phil Butt, Lewis Harrison beat John Sharp and Paul Raymond beat Connor Trigg while captain Carl Baily lost to Simon Richardson.

D.Ransom and Craig Mercer handed British Rail 4 victory over Graves Park 3, while M. Hodgson responded by beating Ian Dallywater, and Chris Vere and J. Clarke drew.

British Rail 5 beat BSC 7. Mark Haresign and James Leary beat Andy Bush and J. Brinkley to give BSC a 56-point lead, but the Rail responded with big wins for Louis Wong against Jim Hartley and Julian Furnell getting the better of Paul Leary.

BSC 6 lost to Cons 5 – who earned wins through Joh Chain and Dick Killick, while BSC wins came from Gordon Russell and Ray Cartwright.

In other matches, Shodfriars 6 beat BSC 3, Q Club 4 shocked Shodfriars 20, BSC 1 exited to West End due to a clerical error and Kirton Leisure 2 were handed a round one exit thanks to BSC 9.
