Simpson ends speedway series with another win

Mickie Simpson rode to victory in the final round of the Scunthorpe Winter Series.

The speedway youngster claimed five unbeaten heat victories before winning the final.

Entry numbers were a little low, with some riders opting to compete in an event in Glasgow. But Wrangle’s Mickie was convincing once more.

In the final, Mickie was first home with Jack Bell second and Freddie Fox Barron third.

Mickie finished the championship in second overall, with two round wins and a second, level on points with winner Harry McGurk, who claimed first due to beating Mickie in more races.

This year Mickie will be Mascot for the Peterborough Panthers, his first ride on March 19 aginst Coventry Bees in a Challenge match.
