Santa’s Speeders ran out the winners at the latest match in the series of junior sportshall athletics team competitions at The B-Hive on Saturday.

At the end of the action-packed programme of running and jumping events for under seven, nine, 11 and 13 boys and girls, the Speeders had an eight-point advantage over runners-up the Black Bolts.

For the winning team, under 13 Georgia Reilly’s best performances were in standing triple jump (4.39m), speed bounce (51) and the one-lap (12.7 secs).

In support, under 11 Matthew Lewis finished first in five events, winning standing triple jump (4.81m), two-laps (23.9 secs), vertical jump (41cm), one lap (12.0 secs) and standing long jump (1.85m).

Two under nine competitors contributed to the Santa’s Speeders success.

Ellie Reilly’s best achievements were in standing long jump (1.25m) and speed bounce (26) and Rhys Buswell achieved 25cm in vertical jump and recorded 42.9secs in the three-lap race.

For Black Bolts, under 11 Connor Bateman recorded 40.8secs for the three laps and notched up a total of 45 in speed bounce.

In the same age group, Megan Reid produced the second best speed bounce score of the match, accumulating a total of 60, and recorded 26.2 secs for the two-lap event.

The best speed bounce of the day was by Rosie Owen, who achieved an impressive total of 61 and also cleared 3.76m in the standing long jump contest.

Under seven Tylor Bateman recorded 13.1secs for the one-lap race and achieved a total of 53 in the speed bounce.

The final junior event of 2015 at the B Hive is the under seven, nine, 11 and 13 junior cross country races, starting at 10am on December 19.
