Squash club members help Fire Service to UK title

Two Boston Squash Club members helped the UK’s National Fire Service team lift the Qaudrangular Trophy this weekend.

Fifth seed Ady Proctor and team manager Simon Jackson were part of the squad which claimed victories against the Combined Armed Services, the Police and the Civil Service for a clean sweep.

The team faced the Combined Armed Services on Friday afternoon, with the Fire Service getting a great start, beating them 4-1

On the Saturday morning they played the Police, coming out 3-2 winners.

The final match on Saturday saw the Fire Service play the Civil Service, knowing a win would secure the Quadrangular Trophy.

The team made hard work of it by losing the first two games, but pulled it back to win 3-2.

In the county racketball league Boston B were beaten 2-1 at Grantham 1.

For the hosts, Nigel Trueman beat Sam Booth 3-2 (11-8, 6-11, 11-3, 10-12, 14-12) and Greame Williamson defeated Tim Booth 3-1 (10-12, 11-5, 11-6, 11-6).

Although the fixture was already decided, Boston’s Jason Hadland pulled one back against Richard Forcet-Jones, succeeding 0-3 (8-11, 7-11, 8-11).

Boston A went down 2-1 at Metheringham.

Greame Pemburry beat Andy Mitchell 3-0 (11-7, 11-8, 11-5) only for Boston to level through Micky Merrison’s 3-2 win against Scott Copsley (11-7, 7-11, 10-12, 11-5, 9-11).

But Nick Allen won it for Metheringham, beating Katie Price 3-0 (11-6, 11-5, 11-4).
