STEVE Green and Emily Hawkesworth have been crowned Boston Tennis Club’s champions for 2012.
Both won the top awards as the Closed Club Championships, sponsored by Chattertons, took place.
The tournament, held over nine days, ended on Sunday.
The ladies’ final saw Emily Hawkesworth beat Sue Beesley in two sets.
The men’s final saw Steve Green defeat fellow club coach Richard Cook 6-2, 6-4.
In the semis, Richard beat Callum Simmonds and Steve needed three sets to see off Henry Beesley.
The men’s section singles final was won by Owen Jary, beating Zach McDonnell-Woods.
Zach was also the runner-up in the boys’ singles, losing 6-4, 6-3 to Henry Beesley.
Emily Hawkesworth added the girls’ singles trophy to her collection after overcoming Victoria Needham in this final.
Steven Green and Richard Cook joined forces in the men’s doubles to beat Dominic Llayton-Hannam and Callum Simmonds.
Danielle and Ashleigh Frankish won the ladies’ doubles, beating Emily Hawkesworth and Rachel Atkinson in three sets.
Joan Beale and Sue Beesley are the ladies’ veteran champions after taking a close third set tie–break 10-8 against Rachel Gedney and Helen Duckett.
The men’s veterans doubles was also a close contest, with Richard Longworth and James Newton just winning 6-4 in the final set against Anthony Hulley and Terry Wilkinson.
In the mini tennis events, Lucas East won the green boys’ title against Matthew Gedney.
Lucy Hull beat Paris Royal in the green girls’ final.
In the orange section, Matthew Gedney beat William Cheer and Paris Royal beat Millie Alexander to win the boys’ and girls’ titles.
The red section saw William Cheer and Louise Sharp defeat Harvey Vickers and Serena Morrow.
The trophies were presented to winners and runners up by club captain Henry Cheer and appreciation was shown to tournament organisers Helen Cook and Jackie Hawkesworth.
