Stormy weather hits Blue Riband event

BAD WEATHER delayed until last Tuesday the start of the biggest race of the season for local racing pigeon fanciers from Lerwick, in the Shetland Islands.

Conditions were good for much of this 500-mile plus race, but at the home end heavy storms proved a hazard to this Blue Riband event organised by the North Road Championship Club.

Outright winners were Mr and Mrs Tony Richardson, of Newark, but Boston fanciers – particularly Mr and Mrs Russ Skinner and Mr and Mrs Brian Garnham – will feature prominently in the finalised result.
