Wrangle B have now climbed into third place in the table tennis A.D. Dickinson Division 2, following an 8-2 win against visitors Sibsey A.

Sibsey put up some stiff resistance, Tim Sampson in particular being made to fight long and hard for his two wins.

Phil Coote forced his game to five ends before succumbing, as did Fred Calvert, Tim needing to come back from 2-0 sets down.

Sam Langford, however, was in no mood to prolong the evening, beating Tim in straight sets – albeit two were at deuce.

Fred Calvert gained the better of David Butler in four sets, but for the rest, the Wrangle machine rolled on.

Tony Hall dropped only one set, against Sam, on his way to a clean sweep.

Tony and Tim then took on Fred and Sam in the doubles, ultimately requiring five ends to wrap up a fine evening for the home team.

The top three players in the league table are now Graves’ Park B’s Alan Reetham, who has won all his 15 games, Sibsey B’s Steve Hill, who has won 14 of 15 matches and Graves Park B’s Mike Freeston, who has won 13 of his 15 matches.
