Tennis aces fight for a tough win in the Aegon Premier Division

Boston Tennis Club’s under 14 girls secured a hard-fought 8-4 victory at Shrewsbury in the Aegon Team Tennis Premier Division.

The team of Victoria Beardsley, Sophie Walsh, Charlotte Priestley and Lucy Hull were level after the singles.

In the doubles, Vicky and Lucy won in straight sets, while Charlotte and Sophie took the tie-break 10-7 after finishing one set apiece.

The Boston under 14 boys’ A team - Sam Felipes, Jack Howard, Toby McDonnell-Woods and Thomas Cozens - beat Grantham 10-2 in the Aegon County League

The B team – David Dorey-Rodriguez, Connall Newton, Harry Baldry, Robert Hayes and Nicholas Hart - lost 10-2 to Eastgate.

The under 16 boys Zac McDonnell-Woods, Toby McDonnell-Woods, Thomas Cozens and Iestyn Halford - finished runners-up in their group after losing 8-4 to Grantham.

Boston’s under 12s - Daniel Dorey-Rodriguez, Michael Niedermeier, Matthew Gedney and Joseph Cannon - won 10-2 against Stamford.

Boston’s under 10s - Matthew Gedney, Paris Royal, Thomas Hull and Alastair Boothby - topped their group after a 12-0 win against Deeping.

The Aegon under nines - William Cheer, Harvey Vickers, Denby Baker and Louise Sharp - beat Eastgate, while the under eights A and B teams beat Stamford and Deeping respectively.

The A team were Will Cheer, Amie Hatton, Myron Baxter and Lois Boothby and the B comprised Tuula Sohngen, Rebecca Dickens, Devon Morgan and Paul Aranin.
