BOSTON Tennis Club members were in action for Lincolnshire at the weekend in the Aegon Winter County Cup... helping the county to claim promotion.
A total of 44 competing counties are divided into groups of four.
Both Lincolnshire’s men’s and ladies’ teams were playing in Group Five.
The men - which included Will Mason, Dom Beesley, James Shacklock and James White - competed at Sunderland against Northumberland, Avon and the Channel Islands.
The Boston contingent helped Lincolnshire claim three strong wins and book their place into Group Four for next year.
The ladies, including Boston’s Danielle Frankish and Madeline Verdegaal, had a tougher time in Wrexham.
They suffered losses on the first two days at the hands of Cornwall and the West of Scotland.
However, on the final day, they did beat North Wales.
With three of the teams on a solitary win, Lincolnshire finished bottom of the pile.
In the Boston and District Winter League, Boston A – Sam Khan, Ryan Frankish, Zak McDonnell-Woods and Jack Morrow had a convincing 4-0 against Horncastle.
Boston D – Chris Cook, Helen Cook, Richard Hart and Chris Mepham - lost out 0-4 to Woodhall Spa.
Boston E played the Boston F team and the E team claimed the win by one set.
Playing for the E team were Richard Cozens, Solomon Koomson, David Dunlop and Peter Elphick.
The Boston F team were Dan Maund, Richard Sharpe, Terry Wilkinson and Opp Watts.
The ladies’ veterans – Jenny McGarel, Helen Cook, Hilary Calvert and Mary Smura - lost out 2-6 at Tealby in the Lincolnshire Veterans League.
