Tennis club vets begin their defence in style

Boston Tennis Club’s Veteran Men began the defence of their Lincolnshire Slazenger Veterans League Division One title by beating Eastgate 8-0.

Ray Frankish, John Gibson, James Newton and Jeremy George-Jones made up the victorious team.

New in to the Lincolnshire Slazenger Veterans League this season are Boston Ladies’ Thirds, who left Washingborough with an 8-0 succes.

The team was Hilary Calvert, Helen Cook, Judith Walker and Norma Hunter.

There were two results from the Boston and District Winter League.

Yet again Sunday morning produced excellent conditions and the Boston E team travelled to Billinghay, but Boston’s Charles Tupper, Paul Stevenson, Ron Hutchinson and Robert Bonser returned without securing a set.

Boston F team’s Toby McDonnell-Woods, Sam Khan, Zach McDonnell-Woods and Richard Woods played Spilsby and won 4-0.

The Summer Daytime Doubles League is drawing to a close.

This successful League is into the last round of matches and the competition remains tight with Geoff Presland, Jim Mackin and Richard Tupper all equal on 92 games.

The leading lady is currently Margaret Wright on 85 games, with Jane Kay in second place on 79 games and Tracy Hull and Lyn Brocklehurst on 78 games.
