Boston Tennis Club’s Ladies’ Second team sit top of the Lincolnshire Slazenger Veterans League Division Three.
They are seven points clear of rivals Louth, who have four matches in hand of the Sleaford Road team.
However, Boston struck a vital blow in the chase for the title this week as they beat their county rivals.
The team of Joan Beale, Sue Beesley, Linda Barrow and Claire Smith earned a comprehensive 8-0 victory over the Louth team.
The Boston Men’s Seconds had a very good win against Division One leaders Grimsby Tennis Centre, keeping the pressure up on their rivals.
In a home fixture, Peter Elphick, Mike Sweeney, Jeremy George-Jones and Richard Tupper earned a 6-2 success.
This throws the division wide open and leaves three teams contending for the top spot.
Grimsby are stil in first place on 26 points.
But Boston – looking to retain their title - are level on points with two fixtures in hand, ahead of Grantham Firsts.
The Boston Men’s Third team had a good result against Tealby.
The team of Micky Audus, Phil Cosgriff, David Makins and Richard Hart forced a draw in a very even match which, on countback, provided only a game difference.
