The Boston Tennis Club under 12 boy’s B team reached the final of their age group in the Lincolnshire Junior Autumn Outdoor League.

Pitched against Rustons, the extremely wet conditions on Saturday were a problem.

A later start enabled the final to go ahead. The team of Thomas Macklenburgh, Max Mecklenburgh, Ben Robson and Thomas Piggins missed out 1-5 but had chances to push the match towards a shoot-out, but two third sets slipped from their grasp.

Two matches involving Boston Tennis Club seniors took place. The Boston Tennis Club Men’s senior Seconds played at Scotter in Division Two of the Lincolnshire Seniors Winter League, but it was a 2-6 loss for the team of Richard Hart, Fred Calvert, David Makins and Michael Audus.

The Ladies’ Third team, also in the senior section, managed a very good away win against Tealby B.

In a hard-fought match the team of Hilary Calvert, Anne Wallhead, Helen Cook and Helen Duckett won 5-3.

In the Boston and District Winter League, Boston A - Jake Sherrick, William Cutforth, Harry Foster and Joseph Parla - were held to a draw by a Billinghay, Billinghay taking the winning draw on games.

Two recent winners of the league - Boston B team and Boston C - played against each other on Sunday morning.

Boston B - Geoff Short, Calum McCaig, Callum Simmonds and Sam Burrell - won 4-2 against Dan Bambridge, Anthony Hulley, Owen Jary and Gary Fitzjohn.

The previous Sunday morning, Boston E team had played Boston B team and the score was 3-1 to the B team, but it could have shifted towards a win for Boston E’s Robert Bonser, Phil Wilson and Richard Tupper.

Competing for the B team were Emma Mastin, Henry Cheer, David Cheer and Mary Smura.

The Lincolnshire Mini Tennis League went ahead indoors on the damp Saturday afternoon.

Boston B Red - Jessica Dolata, Yasmin Everitt, Matilda Clark and Alina Rubina - lost to Grantham but beat Tennis Buddies.
