Tennis vets suffer defeat

Boston Tennis Club’s Ladies Seconds lost 6-2 to Grantham in a tough Lincolnshire Veterans’ Doubles League encounter.

Joan Beale, Sue Beesley, Helen Cook and Hilary Calvert made up the Boston team.

In the Boston and District Winter League, Boston A lost 3-1 against Billinghay.

David Cheer, Harry Foster, Sam Felipes and Iestyn Halford had opportunities to win additional sets in this match on the road, but the momentum went the way of Billinghay.

Boston F team had a solid 3-1 win over Horncastle.

Standing level at the end of the first round, Opp Watts, Toby McDonnell-Woods, Zach McDonnell- Woods and Richard Woods pulled out all the stops in the second round.

In the Lincolnshire Mini Tennis Leagues, Boston A team had matches against Boston B and C, winning 3-0.

Boston B has also had a match against Grantham.

Boston A’s Lois Boothby, Isabel Wookey, Rebecca Dickens, James Gedney, William Cheer, Harvey Vickers, Matthew Dickens and Tom Hull got the better of Boston B and C’s Joshua Brooks, Paul Aranin, Samuel King, James Burrell, Jacob Felipes, Tajus Duscjevicus, Tuula Sohngen, Thomas Piggins, Rodrigo Quevedo, Serena Morrow, Will Lakin and Dominic Sharpe.

Boston B then faced Grantham, winning 2-1.

The team of Will Lakin, Dominic Sharpe, Thomas Piggins, Devon Morgan, Isabelle Servonat, Bethany Hayes and Rebecca Dickens were successful.

Both orange and green levels had a win.
