There’s no place like home for victorious Boston swimmers

THE Boston A team dominated round one of the Anglian Swimming League.

Competing in home water at the Geoff Moulder complex, they topped the table by 22 points, with Boston B claiming second.

The As got off to a strong start as Susannah Yielding won the girls’ open 100m individual medley.

Further wins quickly followed for Jordan Ward and Amber Nuttman (15/u boys’ and girls’ 100m butterfly), Lewis Bontoft and Chloe Baldry (13/u boys’ and girls’ 100m freestyle), Susannah Yielding (girls’ open 50m backstroke) and Harry Dean-Allen (15/u boys’ 100m breaststroke).

Six wins in the next 10 races followed for Joe Reed and Bethany Holderness (boys’ and girls’ 13/u 100m individual medley), Amber Nuttman (girls’ open 50m butterfly), Jordan Ward (15/u 100m freestyle) and Lewis Bontoft and Chloe Baldry (boys’ and girls’ 13/u 100m backstroke).

Boston A continued to dominate in the final 11 races as Harry Dean-Allen and Charlize Arundell (boys’ and girls’ 15/u 200m individual medley), Chloe Baldry (girls’ 13/u 100m butterfly), Hannah Macleod (girls’ open 50m breaststroke) and James and Lauren Hurley (boys’ and girls’ 15/u 100m individual medley) all won. The team rounded off the evening in fine style as the freestyle relay team of Ose Ikhena, Susannah Yielding, Jordan Ward, Hannah Macleod, James Hurley and Charlize Arundell won by more than a length.

Boston B were runners-up as they finished five points ahead of the Fenland Flyers. Lewis Moses (boys’ open 100m individual medley) claimed a second spot.

Although they could not achieve a win in the first 10 races, Oliver Street produced a tremendous series of swims over the next 10 races, achieving first place finishes in the boys’ open 50m butterfly and freestyle, and a second in the 50m backstroke.

Toni Keal won the girls’ open 50m freestyle and Isaac Reed was first in the 13/u boys’ 100m butterfly as the B squad held on to second.
