BOSTON Thunder (netball team have been crowned county champions and regional runners-up.

They were one of the under 11s Boston Junior Netball Club teams taking part in the East Midlands Regional Clubs Championships - competing against rivals from Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.

As well as being a regional competition there was also a sub competition with points being awarded to Lincolnshire teams as part of their final Hi-5 Grand Prix tournament.

Prior to the event, Boston Thunder were just one point behind Grantham’s Fenland Netball Club, and Boston Lightning were in third.

Boston Thunder had another fantastic tournament, which again illustrated just how versatile their team is, as all players have to rotate positions at every half and full time.

They recorded a dra against Fenland in their first match of the day, before beating Cliftonettes, Future Print Navy, Lincoln City White, Lincoln City Navy and Boston Lightning.

The last match of the competition was against a strong Future Print Blue squad, where the battling girls just lost out. The Boston Lightning girls put 100 per cent effort into their games but struggled on this occasion to convert some of their goalscoring opportunities.

However, their efforts were well rewarded as they did enough to take third place in the Lincs Grand Prix series.

Boston Thunder secured East Midlands runners-up spot and were overall county winners.

Boston Junior Netball Club are actively recruiting players (both boys and girls) from current primary school years four and five. For more information call 07979 537975.
