Thursby piles on the pressure in Boston Wheelers’ TT league

CRAIG Thursby continues to pile on the pressure with another emphatic win in round 10 of the Boston Wheelers Time Trial League.

He beat Darren Smith, who set a season best of 23-53, showing he is well on the mend after his broken arm.

In total, there were four personal bests (PB) and two season’s bests (SB) showing that the Wheelers are in good form at this stage of the season.

Results: 1 Craig Thursby 23-07, 2 Darren Smith 23-53 (SB), 3 Martin White 24-08, 4 Dan Carr 24-41, 5 Pete Flint 25-15 (SB), 6 Ian Scott 25-29, 7 Debbie Barnett 25-43 (PB), 8 Trev Yates 26-13 (PB), 9 Nigel Clare 26-48 (PB), 10 Chris Clayton 27-04 (PB), 11 Martin Roberts 34-42.

Private Trials: Brendan Thomas 24-07 (Alford Wheelers), Ryan Thomas 24-54 (Alford Wheelers).

A record 10 members rode in the final Lincs Road Race League event, held on a course around Ashby de la Launde.

Two members managed to stay away and finish in the top placing’s - Simon Plaice with a hard-fought sixth place and Debbie Barnett showing why she is one of the best female riders in the county with a superb ninth place overall.

All the rest of the riders finished back in the main bunch.

On Sunday, Ian Scott, although suffering from a chest infection, posted a very creditable 25-56 in the Witham Wheelers 10m TT on a rolling, windy course.

The event was won by James Coleman (Witham Wheelers, 20-47) some 30 seconds quicker than the next man.

The Wheelers meet on Tuesday evening at 6.30pm on New Hamond Beck Road (alongside B&Q) on Sunday mornings outside the Post Office at 9am.
