The 8-2 scoreline would suggest a decisive victory for Graves Park D when they hosted Lodgers H in Division Two of the Boston and District Table Tennis League.

But this does not reflect how tight some of the individual games were.

Simon Raistrick and Gavin Read won early matches for Lodgers, but captain Mick Dodes led by example as he won his three.

Two-man Wrangle B’s Den Pattrick and Tim Sampson won one each, but their side lost out 8-2 to Sibsey C.

Roger Hooton won his singles, while Dave Smith and John Shortland won one each.

Graham Bonsor and Steve Blanchard had a memorable night when Lodgers D beat Graves Park Nomads 8-2, both of them winning their singles – with Steve not dropping a set.

Ian Gorrie chipped in with one, but lost out to Chips Davey and Jamie Stainton.

Graves Park E showcased a trio of Bells when they visited Sibsey A, but the Park failed to reach the right notes and lost 8-2.

Neil Snaith, won his singles, while Fred Calvert and Phil Coote won two each but both lost to Pete Bell.

Adam and Tom Bell couldn’t register victories.

Belchford won 6-4 at Graves Park E.

Andrew Pocklington won his singles but Brian Todd and Jon Newby both lost to Pete Bell.

Division One results: Lodgers E 2 Wrangle A 8, Lodgers G 10 Stickney 0, Graves Park C 9 Graves Park A 1.
