BOSTON Rowing Club will host their Head of the River rowing event on Sunday.

Once again, the River Witham Sunday will host the 3,000m downstream race, which provides the public with an excellent spectacle as 250 boats compete in various classes, categories and divisions.

The rowers and scullers from around the country will set off in the first division from Boston Rowing Club at approximately 9am, to make their way up stream to Anton’s Gowt.

Last year Warwick university recorded the fastest time of the day in 8 minutes 45 seconds.

And with average boat times taking 10 minutes, there will be plenty of action when the other two divisions start at 12.15pm and 2.45pm.

Five Boston boat crews (singles and doubles) will be wearing the club’s blue and white colours, as other members marshall the event.

Observers will be able to walk or cycle along the foot and cycle path from Anton’s Gowt, past the Tattershall Road Witham Way Country Park, towards the Boston Marina.

Boston Rowing Club Members will also be available at their Boathouse, Carlton Road, on the opposite bank at the end of Witham Bank West, just up from the the Marina for anyone interested in the day’s racing events and Boston Rowing Club activities and membership.
