Winter training has been paying off for cyclists from Boston Wheelers.

In cold and wet conditions, the Bourne Hilly Time Trial saw Darren Smith (38-21) finish 12th and Dan Carr (39-34) 17th.

Overal winner Julian Ramsbottom (Scunthorpe Poly) clocked 32-04.

On Sunday, five Wheelers took on the Lincs Road Race Association’s Middle Markers 25-mile Time Trial at Saxilby. In sleet and rain, Smith was the first Wheeler home in a time of 1.03-22.

Behind him came Adrian Marshall (24th, 1.03-31), Adrian Hartog (40th, 1.06-13) and Neil Booley (68th, 1.12-27).

Dan Carr didn’t finish the course.

Sunday also saw the Mud Sweat & Gears Eastern Mountain Bike Series Round One take place in Tunstall Forest, Suffolk - Earl Taylor (18th) and Reece Tomlin (34th) representing Boston.
