Trio grab second spot at county event

BOSTON and District Senior Mens team finished in silver medal position in Sunday’s Lincolnshire AA County Cross Country Championships at Riseholme, near Lincoln.

l Running together with the junior and veteran men over the 9.7km parkland course Josè Ferriera, Tom Johnson and Aston Perrin combined to score 58 points for second place behind host club Lincoln Wellington.

Josè led the Gold Tops’ senior men’s challenge finishing in a time of 36mins 43secs in tenth position.

Second counter for Boston & District AC was Thomas Johnson who finished 23rd in 43mins 15secs with third man Aston Perrin in 25th place recording 44mins 18secs.

l In the same event BADAC had four finishers in the Veteran men’s championship.

Dennis Rainbow led the chase for county titles finishing the ninth veteran runner in 38mins 48secs.

David Johnson was 34th in a time of 46mins 31secs; Darren Rushby, 36th clocking 47mins 47secs; and Tony Tomlin, 39th recording 48mins 57secs at the end of the four lap challenge.

l In the junior women’s championship (over 5.3km) Boston and District AC representatives filled second and third places.

Chelsea Brockett entered the finish funnel in runners up position with Louise Rutt coming home third.

l At the end of the 5.3km Under 17 men’s race Aidan McClure claimed eighth place.

l In the Under 17 women’s event Alice Flint crossed the finish line in ninth position (24mins 38secs); Emma Penniston, 13th (27mins 58secs).

l In the Under 13 boy’s contest (3km) Leigh Robertson made light of the still frozen and uneven surface to come home strongly in seventh position in his first county championships.

l In the same age group, over the same distance, Isobel Rushby filled 13th place in the girl’s event.

l At under 11 level, in the non championship race, Jack Rushby was the seventh boy to complete the 1.5km combined boys and girls competition.
