Trio win Kirton Holme GC stableford events

Val Richardson, Paula Kidby and Betty Gedney all won stableford events at Kirton Holme Golf Club last month.

Val won the first event in the ladies’ section with 40 points, ahead of runner-up Andy Thorlby (37) and Barbara Pell (35).

A score of 33 points was enough to bring Paula success. In second was Sarah Cantwell (31) with Yvonne Prior (27) in third.

Betty won a nine-hole stableford with 19 points. Barabara Slade (16 points) did enough to see off Margaret Johnson on countback.

Sophie Hawksworth won the first medal event and the Elaine Goddard Trophy with gross 99, nett 63, which earned a handicap cut.

Sophie also won the Sandra Chester Trophy, awarded to the medal’s category five winner. In second was Vee King (85, 68) and Jackie Ward (85, 74) was third.

The month’s second medal was won by Sheila Woodhead (109, 74), ahead of Kellie Hadland (88, 74) and Tricia Sharpe (89, 76).

Vee King won the Rosemary Bell Trophy with nett 70. In second was Barbara Pell (71), with Mary Piper (73) third.

Jackie Ward and Sarah Cantwell won the Coronation Foursomes event and will now go on to represent the club at Newark in the area final.

Sarah Cantwell’s 36 points was enough to win the Lady President’s Bowl.
