Two match records broken on Westwood Lakes

Two match records were broken at Westwood Lakes in the space of a week.

The first record fell last Tuesday on Skylark Lake.

UK Champ Marc Rodgers followed up his victory during the previous Sunday Open match in spectacular style, with a haul weighing in at 176lbs 2oz.

He fished from peg 33 and caught carp and barbel.

Then the second record fell just five days later on Sunday.

On Hawk Lake, Martin Kirk landed fish weighing in at 150lbs 4oz from peg one.

Both booked their places in the £1,000 match final.

Tuesday’s results: 1 Marc Rodgers 176lbs 2oz, 2 Spike Milligan, 110lbs 12oz, 3 Ken Clarke 104lbs 8oz, 4 Dale Wheelan 88lbs 8oz, 5 Steve Lane 82lbs 14oz.

Sunday results: 1 Martin Kirk 150lbs 4oz, 2 Steve Gregory 118lbs 4oz, 3 Dave Corcoran 102lbs 10oz, 4 Rick Tweddle 79lbs 10oz, 5 Toby Pepper 79lbs.

Thursday’s Over 50s Open Match was won by Ken Clarke.

Results: 1 Ken Clarke 117lbs 4oz, 2 Brian Thompson 94lbs, 3 Roy Taylor 91lbs 14oz, 4 Shane Spafford 89lbs 2oz, 5 Steve Gregory 87lbs 6oz.
