Boston Tennis Club’s F team earned a winning draw against Horncastle in the Boston and District Winter League on Sunday morning.

Pawel Aranin, Paul Stevenson, Helen Duckett and Lisa Stevenson were the F team’s players on this occasion.

Matches in the Lincolnshire Veterans’ League were also played at the weekend.

In Division One, Boston’s Men’s Firsts played Boston’s Second team.

The result was a win for the First team of Ray Frankish, James Newton, Chris Cook and John Gibson, against the second team of Sev Smura, Richard Walker, Mike Sweeney and Richard Tupper.

There was a very small consolation for the Seconds in that the last rubber on court was halved to give the final result of 7-1.

The Men’s Third team played Louth Firsts, and they had to settle for one set.

The team taking on Louth included Rhys Thomas, Richard Hart, David Makins and Phil Cosgriff.

The Boston Ladies’ Seconds played Gainsborough at home in Division Two, resulting in a 5-3 win for Boston.

The team was Joan Beale, Jane Hindmarch, Denise Priestley and Claire Smith.

The Summer Daytime Doubles League was completed last week, and the overall winner of the league was Geoff Presland - who won a total of 118 games.

Top lady was Tricia Alexander, who won a commanding 113 games.

Runners-up were Sev Smura on 117 games and Helen Motson on 112.
