Ward and Cantwell win Ping qualifier at Kirton Holme Golf Club

Jackie Ward and Sarah Cantwell won the Ping Qualifying Stableford competition at Kirton Holme Golf Club.

They scored 40 points to win the in-house competition, and will now go on to represent Holme in the next round against opposition clubs.

Twelve members of the ladies’ section travelled to Sudbrook Moor GC for the annual friendly mixed Texas Scramble.

First place went to Sudbrook’s Mags McArthur who teamed up with Holme’s Jean Williamson and Merna Atkins to score 65 points.

Eileen Plummer (SM), Marlene Morris (KH) and Gloria Bursnell (KH) were second with 66.8 points and third went to Amanda Roberts (SM), Mavis Ablard (KH) and Yvonne Prior (KH) with 66.9 points.

The Kirton Holme Stableford qualifier was won by Payula Kidby on 27 points, ahead of runner-up Jane Grayling with 26 points.

Paula also won the weekday qualifier with 31 points.

Another Stableford qualifier was won by Tricia Sharpe, who recorded 36 points. The runner-up was Helen Cook (34) and Gill Smith was third (31).

A nine-hole Stableford qualifier was won by Kathleen Holt with 18 points. Runner-up was Pirjo Bennett (16) and Shirley Raynor (12) was third.

The medal qualifier was won by Sophie Hawkesworth, with a gross 90, nett 68, which earned a handicap cut.

Jackie Ward (81,72) was second and Vee King came third (90,74).

A second Medal event was won by Vee King (90,74), ahead of second-placed Merna Atkins (94/75) and third-placed Helen Cook (112/78).

In the Ladies’ League, Kirton Holme lost 2.5-1.5 when they hosted Tydd St Giles.
