FIVE Boston Wheelers competed at Spalding Cycling Club’s 27-mile hilly time trial.
The start was delayed by 30 minutes due to fog, but a steady wind got up which resulted in clearer conditions.
However, in turn this caused its own problems for the riders.
Five Boston Wheelers took part with three of them finishing in the top 11 and just missing out on the team prize. The winning time was 1 hour 03 mins 47 secs.
Best-placed Boston rider was Craig Thursby, coming fifth in 1 hr 06 mins 19 secs, ahead of Asa Elkington (seventh, 1 hr 07 mins 18 secs), Darren Smith (11th, 1 hr 08 mins 23 secs), Pete Flint (26th 1 hr 17 mins 04 secs), Ian Scott (33rd, 1 hr 23 mins 12 secs).
On Sunday, Boston Wheelers host a two-up time trial, starting at 9am at Ashcroft Fabrics, near Cowbridge.
Twenty teams will be taking part.
