Boston coasted a 5-2 win against Ely this week when they played away against the mid-table thirds. From the start whistle Boston were the more confident side and a goal was soon to come for the team from Wightman. Boston didn’t ease up with a good 70 percent of play in the Ely quarter. Another goal was soon to come from a Salisbury strike. Half-time saw fresh legs on the pitch with constant rotation from all the subs. Wightman gained his hat-trick and Salisbury his second of the day. In the last ten minutes, however, Boston eased off the pressure and a captaincy error led to two quick Ely goals. Man of the match was Harry Stephenson for the amount of effort applied throughout. Next week Boston travel to St Ives 4ths for the return fixture.
Boston ladies took a 5-1 win against Louth 2nds this week. Good running by Lisa Ceaser saw her open up Boston’s scoring. Just before half-time Louth managed to get in between Boston’s defence. In the second half a one-two run between Panton and Chester-O’Neill saw them run from the centre circle and Chester-O’Neill swept home for Boston. Katie Beeson then found herself space in the D, received the ball and found the backboard. Chester-O’Neill made another run but her goalbound shot was stopped on the line by a Louth foot. Up stepped Wood for a penalty flick to slot the ball in to make it 4. Movement by the backs saw a perfect pass from Ceaser to Beeson who took the ball into the D, around Louth’s defence and earned herself her 2nd goal.
