Wilson hopes to whittle down gap in standings

BEN Wilson travels the short distance to Donington Park in Leicestershire for round nine of the Motorpoint British Supersport championship in which he holds fourth place in the overall rider standings.

It will be a big ask of the Kirton rider to move further forward as he trails Billy McConnell by 43 points as we head into the final stages of the 2012 championship.

But Wilson will be trying his utmost to reduce the gap between him and a third place in the standings and will push the Gearlink Kawasaki to the limit to achieve this.

Last season he registered a second and fourth place finish to the two races at Donington and will be aiming his sights at a repeat of this over the weekend.

The weekend begins on Friday with two free practice sessions for Wilson ahead of the solitary qualifying session at 11am on Saturday. The short sprint race is set to begin later that afternoon at 3.45pm and will run over 12 laps while the 18-lap feature race will take place on Sunday at 3.40pm.
