BEN Wilson is eager to return to the Donington Park track as he looks to extend his lead at the top of the British Supersport championship.

As the season draws to its climax, Wilson will pay a visit to Donington Park for round 10 of the series.

The Kirton racer is sitting pretty at the top of the rider standings with a 53 point advantage over Alastair Seeley and goes to the circuit in high spirits after his double victory on home tarmac at Cadwell Park.

Last year Donington Park was missing from the agenda, but after a revamp the circuit is back up and running and will host the British Superbike championship this weekend.

Wilson, 29, will be chasing maximum points to maintain his series lead over Seeley as, although there are only three rounds remaining in the series, there are two races at both Donington and Silverstone and three at Brands Hatch in the season finale.

Altogether there are still 175 championship points up for grabs, so Wilson is by no means assured of lifting the trophy and needs to secure as many top results as possible in the remaining five races.

“I missed having Donington on the race calendar last year; it’s a circuit I like and have always done well there,” he said.

“From what I have heard the layout is slightly different so I will have to make sure I check it out thoroughly but I am looking forward to a couple of good races there.

“Obviously Alastair (Seeley) will be doing his utmost to beat me and reduce the deficit but my Gearlink Kawasaki is running really well and the team have all worked hard throughout the season to keep me at the top of my game and I will be focusing on bring them back the results they deserve.”

Free practice takes place on Friday ahead of qualifying on Saturday morning.

The short 12-lap sprint race is set to begin at 4.15pm on Saturday and the feature race run over 18 laps is due on track at 3.35pm on Sunday.
