With a magnificent seven personal bests, Jessica leads the way in the pool

JESSICA Pettit recorded seven personal bests as Boston Swimming Club competed in the City of Leicester Distance Open Meet.

This gave the youngsters their first opportunity to gain Midland qualifying times for next summer’s regional championships.

Jessica, 11, produced her seven PBs from eight races.

This included four Midland times in the 200m, 400m and 800m freestyle and 400m individual medley.

James Hurley, 12, made Midland qualifying times in the 200m, 400m freestyle and 400m individual medley also achieving four PBs.

Club captain Susannah Yielding, 16, recorded four PBs, plus Midland times in the 200m breaststroke and 400m freestyle. Susannah won silver in the 200m butterfly and bronze medals in the 200m breaststroke and 400m freestyle.

Lewis McGarry, nine, finished seventh in the final of the 200m freestyle and 200m individual medley and claimed silver in the 200m butterfly.

Amber Nuttman, 13, and Connor Spinks, 14, achieved Midland times in the 200m breaststroke and 200m backstroke respectively.

Hannah Macleod, 14, missed out on a Midland time - but she did set a new club record when achieving a five-second PB in the 200m butterfly.

In the girls’ 800m freestyle events, Nesta Baxter took a minute off her best time and Chloe Baldry improved by 26 seconds. Bethany Holderness achieved a three-second PB in the same event and, throughout the weekend, achieved a further five PBs.
