Boston Hockey Club ladies claimed an impressive 3-0 victory over Woodhall Spa Ladies... despite only having nine players.

They travelled to Lincoln with a makeshift side, refusing to concede the points.

Boston started the game excellently, with Tori Needham and Lauren Harvey having an influence on the wings.

Great central play by Caroline Chester-O’Neill and midfield partner Katie Beeson also had the hosts in trouble.

Boston were dominating and earned themselves a number of short corners, Laura Panton pushing out to Beeson, who was unlucky with her first few attempts.

Woodhall were quick on the break, and once again Boston’s defence of Petra Wood, Claire Nundy and Lisa Ceaser stood strong.

Boston opened up the scoring, Panton sending Beeson a great ball from a short corner.

Beeson drove into the D and scored with an excellent strike.

Boston doubled their lead when Needham made a very quick and skillful run before crossing to Chester-O’Neill who, in the perfect position to slot the ball home past the woodhall keeper, found the target.

Chester-O’Neill (pictured) added her second of the game when she latched on to Beeson’s defence-splitting pass, keeping her composure and firing home the third.

Some great saves were made my stand-in keeper Sophie Vaughan, who earned her clean sheet.

Boston Ladies return to action on January 12.

They will face Lincoln Seconds.
