Worth the wait for Carl

Saturday’s storms delayed the second young bird race of the summer for Boston-area pigeon fanciers.

However, the birds were liberated for the 80-mile race from Wetherby on Sunday.

One man who found the wait worthwhile was Carl Upsall (pictured), who took the first seven places in Boston Central RPC.

This follows 2-4-5-6-7 and 11 positions the previous week from Bubwith when the partnership of Kirkman and Weir were the winners.

The Upsall loft had ended the old bird season in superlative form when they took the first six places in the club from the 400-mile Thurso race and also won the national North Road Championship Club classic.
