Boston and District Athletic Club siblings William and Hermione Wright competed at one of the classic fell races at Burnsall Feast Sports at Wharfedale, near Skipton.
This race has been run since 1850 and winners of the senior race have included the famous 1950s track mile runner Derek Ibbotson.
After heavy overnight rain, and in warm humid conditions, William set off well in his first under 12 boys’ fell race.
He was in second place at the top of the fell, but his lack of experience showed on the descent.
Nonetheless, he came a strong fourth, missing out on a medal by only three seconds.
Hermione faced stiff and experienced competition in the under 16 girls’ race, and came a strong third, also in her first fell race.
