Competition was close in the fifth match in the series of Boston and District Athletic Club’s Junior Cross Country league.

In the years five and six race, Hallam Bedford (Burgh le Marsh Primary) just pipped Lucy Raywood (Mareham le Fen) over the 1,500m distance, recording 6 mins 45 secs, with Lucy clocking 6 mins 48 secs.

Haddley Bedford (Burgh) was third in 7 mins 31 secs to finish ahead of Sam Shields (St George’s Prep).

Faith Martin (Butterwick Primary) was fifth and Courtney Woodbine (Billingborough Primary) sixth.

In the 1,200m years three and four race, four competitors had victory in their sights,

Oscar Shields (St George’s Prep) crossed the finish line first in 6 mins 41 secs.

In second was Matthew Lewis (Hawthorn Tree) in 7 mins 01 secs, just ahead of Leo Pool (Bicker Prep), who clocked 7 mins 04 secs.

Three St George’s representatives filled the following places with Kenya Allen-Burgess, Sebastian Money, Alex Wilson completing the race ahead of Coningsby Primary School’s Rosie Owen.

Competing over 600m, the years one and two runners had a close tussle all the way round.

Joshua Robertson (St George’s) crossed the finish line first in 3 mins 07 secs, with Ben Rudkin (St George’s) second in 3 mins 14 secs.

Schoolmate Toby Taylor was third in 3 mins 21 secs.

George Allen-Burgess claimed fourth.

The final match in the series is on March 7.
