Youngsters in national cross-country action

Three Boston-area distance runners have competed at national level in the Cross-country Championship.

Blake Garwell and Sam Sharp travelled to Birmingham to represent Lincolnshire AA in the 2013 CAU National Inter-Counties Championships at Cofton Park.

Competing in the under 13 boys event, Blake finished in 254th position, with Sam claiming 284th place.

Boston Grammar School sixth former Matthew Craven represented Lincolnshire Schools at the English Schools AA Cross-country Championships at Catton Park in Derbyshire.

He finished fifth counter for the team in 257th place, assisting Lincs to 25th team position.

Boston Grammar School’s year seven and eight runners completed this year’s Fenland Schools Cross-country League series at Burghley Park, Stamford, on Thursday.

Blake Garwell was second, helping BGS finish as second team overall.

Other runners were Aaron Bradshaw, Tom Evans, Daniel Bradshaw, William Parsons Matthew Connelly, Kieran Duncan-Johal, Finlay Whitaker, Edward Buckley and Kirill Zahharov.

Boston and District AC runner Hermione Wright was the first year nine entrant and 11th runner home in an open girls’ under14s-19s cross-country event at Wollerton Park, Nottinghamshire.

Younger brother William Wright finished within the top 20 at a district school’s cross-country championships at Worksop.
