Tower Road Academy youngsters represented the East Midlands at the National Swimming Championships in the relay event for Primary Schools at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge venue.

Teams from all over England met up to compete in the finals of freestyle and mixed stroke relay races.

Twenty-four teams competed in each event, which were split into large, medium and small schools.

After finishing third in their heat, the Tower Road boys’ team came 12th overall in the freestyle relay.

In the mixed stroke relay, they narrowly missed out on an A team final place by three-10ths of a second, ending in 13th place overall.

The girls’ team, all year five pupils, faced very strong competition.

After swimming a personal best time in the freestyle event they came 23rd overall. The competitors are pictured.
