Zak and Geoff lift the Wilkinson Cup

Geoff Presland and Zak McDonnell-Woods are the 2013 winners of Boston Tennis Club’s Wilkinson Cup.

The competition was held for the fourth time, with Sam Felipes and Terry Wilkinson the losing finalists.

The doubles tournament sees each player drawn alongside a new partner in each match, with the competitors with the most games won progressing to the quarter-finals.

This aims to keeps every player on top of their game, and once again competition was fierce for those desired places.

The B final was contested between Gordon Gray, Nicky Lawrence, Louise Linnell and Lesley Addy with Nicky Lawrence and Gordon Gray emerging as the winners.

There was plenty of action in the Boston and District Winter League.

Boston A - Calum McCaig, Ryan Frankish, Zak McDonnell-Woods and Alex Gordon – lost 4-0 to Boston C’s Dan Bambridge, Anthony Hulley, James Newton and Richard Longworth.

Boston B - Charlotte Priestley, David Makins, Geoff Short and Courtney George-Jones - won by the advantage of one set at Woodhall.

Boston D - David Dunlop, Simon Beardsley, Michal Chmielik and Zafar Khan - had a convincing win against Horncastle, losing only one set.

Boston F’s Richard Woods, Toby McDonnell-Woods, Maurice Lawrence and Charles Tupper drew at Billinghay.
