Fisher finishes 19th

The two G&S Racing Kawasaki riders both completed their first round race in the 2016 National Superstock 1000 championship at Silverstone on Sunday, despite having very little track time during free practice and qualifying because of the poor weather conditions.

Tom Fisher qualified in 16th position and began the race from the sixth row for the team which is based in Wyberton.

He had a problem on the warm-up lap with a clutch issue which hampered him at the start and he dropped down to 19th at the end of lap one.

He lost ground down to 22nd before mounting a comeback and held 18th place until the final lap when he was beaten back a place to cross the finish line in 19th.

Kevin Van Leuven was contesting his first stock 1000 race after moving up from the 600 class.

He made a steady start and maintained 25th place for the majority of the 11 laps before he was beaten back a place to take the chequered flag in 26th place.

The next race is at Oulton Park over the May Day Bank Holiday on April 30-May 2.
