Nesta strikes gold at world kickboxing contest

Nesta Baxter struck gold at the WAKO Kickboxing World Championships in Dublin.

Teammate Chelsea Leggatt also competed on the Emerald Isle, finishing fifth in her category.

The duo, both members of Boston’s Evolution Martial Arts club, were representing Great Britain.

Nesta, 16, claimed her world title as a team member in the junior (16-18 years) team event .

She also returned with a well-deserved bronze medal in her individual event in her first year in a new age division.

The WAKO World Junior and Cadet World Championships 2016 had 1,697 entries from 47 countries across the globe take part, from as far afield as Australia, the USA, Guatemala, Mexico, Kazakhstan, South Africa and New Zealand.

The girls were taken to the airport in their GB suits by Acorn Taxis, one of their sponsors, where they flew across the Irish Sea with Evolution Martial Arts head coach Linda Baxter.
