‘Nobody expects us to win!’ Underdog spirit suits Boston Cricket Club ahead of Bracebridge clash

BOSTON Cricket Club captain Tom Baxter says nobody expects his side to beat Bracebridge Heath on Saturday.

And he believes that could play into the Mayflower men’s hands.

Boston Firsts host the Lincoln-based side, who currently sit in third spot in the Lincs ECB Premier, on Saturday.

“Bracebridge don’t lose many games, so nobody is expecting us to win next week,” Baxter said.

“All the pressure is on them in my eyes.

“They won’t want to slip up, they have a title to retain.”

Baxter will have to make a few changes with the trio of Ricky Drury, Tim Bell and Scott Elleray all unavailable - Drury back on duty with Boston United, 
 “All this means, is that it will give others the chance to impress.” Baxter added.

Will Trim will return to the Boston side and will be hoping to continue his good start in a Boston shirt.

Boston hope to be in their stride following this week’s tour of Newcastle, which sees them take on three north-eastern sides.

Also on Saturday, Boston Seconds travel to face Spalding in the South Lincs and Border League Division Two.

A day later, the Sunday Firsts are away at Market Rasen in the Lincoln and District Sunday League Premier Division.

In Division One, the Sunday Seconds host Owmby.
