Johnson will return to Glasgow for March bout

CALLUM Johnson will be taking the high road back to Glasgow for his fourth fight since turning professional.
The Boston light heavyweight is a firm favourite north of the border after winning a Commonwealth Games gold medal for Scotland in 2010.
So, for the third time in his career, Johnson will be in action at Glasgow’s Braehead Arena, on March 10, part of the undercard of Ricky Burns’ interim WBO World Lightweight title defence against Namibian Paulus Moses.
His opponent is yet to be named.
Johnson is more than happy to fight in front of his Scottish support, and despite living 300-plus miles away, he still attracts Caledonian autograph hunters whenever he’s in the streets of Glasgow.
But he has previously declared his desire to fight more in his native England, to build up a larger fan base south of the border.
However, after having his scheduled fight against Dubliner Ciaran Healy at Liverpool Arena twice postponed last year, he is just anxious to get back in the ring.
“It’s been a frustrating year,” said Johnson, whose last fight was in July.
“I’ve just been training hard and making sure I’m sharp for whenever I get the call.”
March’s contest will see Johnson step up to a six-round bout for the first time.
Johnson wants to fight up to six times this year as he believes momentum is the key to fulfilling his ambitions, the first step of which is a British title shot.
He is currently unbeaten in his three professional outings, beating Philip Townley and Jody Meikle in Glasgow and Lee Duncan in Liverpool.
