A disappointing display saw Freiston, Leake and Leverton lose at home to Cavaliers by four wickets.

Batting first in a South Lincs and Border League Division Two match, reduced to 40 overs, Freiston lost two early wickets.

However an attractive 25 from Sunil Panjwani helped settle the Freiston nerves.

A superb fourth-wicket partnership between Rob Sexton and Ollie Booth set Freiston up for a strong score. The pair put on 72 as Booth made 32 before he was caught at long off, while Sexton made 50.

Some important late order runs from John Goodfellow (19), Tommy Atkinson (10) and Paul Chester (6 not out) took Freiston to 154-8.

However, with the ball Freiston were far from their best as Cavaliers recorded 155-6.

Paul Chester cleaned bowled Johnson for five, but scoring was made easy as the Cavaliers batsmen were served up a number of poor deliveries.

Chester also had Dale caught behind for 30, but Freiston also dropped a number of catches as the run rate continued to be too high for the home side’s liking.

John Goodfellow was the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets, while Martin Hodgson also claimed a victim.

In the East Lindsey League Division One, Freiston LL earned a seven-wicket win at Holton-le-Clay.

Ollie Booth (three), Ashok Kumar (three), Umar Farooq and Michael Burman - who also executed a fine run out with a good throw - ensured Holton-le-Clay were bowled out for 107

With the bat, Freiston finished on 111-3 thanks to Zeeshan Saeed (34), Herbert Ushewokunze (32) and an unbeaten 31 from Sunil Panjwani - with 15 overs to spare.
